About Leadership Forsyth
The Mission of LF is to strengthen our community by enhancing individual and collective leadership potential.
The Leadership Forsyth Program is dedicated to foster the development of future leaders in our community. The program offers a one year class that provides leadership training and monthly hands class days where class members experience Forsyth's history, natural and cultural resources, and learn the challenges we face today and tomorrow. In addition, Leadership Forsyth gives back to the community through engaging alumni in programs that prepare them for leadership positions in other organizations, including many within the local community.
The purpose of the program is to provide leadership training and inspire a network of emerging leaders through our annual class program. Leadership Forsyth provides a hands on educational experience that carries the class through our community's past, explores the diverse cultural and natural resources that Forsyth County offers, and provides you a first hand opportunity to meet leaders in local businesses, educational institutions, and government. Our participants also learn about the challenges that we face as a community. The class is then given the opportuinty to work as a team to overcome these challenges in the community, While many of these projects are found throughout the county today, perhaps the greatest legacy that the program has left behind the many alumni who have continued to make this the best community through their leadership role in non-profit organizations, government, and business.
Our program has graduated 500+ participants. Each class year consists of an evening orientation, one two-day retreat, nine one-day class sessions, periodic study group sessions, a class project and a graduation. Meetings and activities are distributed over a ten-month period beginning in August. Broadening the leadership base requires on-going leadership development programs to prepare new and to strengthen existing leaders. The Leadership Forsyth Program enables Forsyth County citizens to realize their full leadership potential and recognize their responsibility as community, youth and organizational leaders. It prepares them to identify, address, and meet current and future challenges.
Located in Cumming, Georgia,. Leadership Forsyth is one of the many 501(c)3 non-profit leadership organizations established throughout the United States. The development of the program began in 1989 by existing Forsyth County business and community leaders. Leadership Forsyth does not attempt to create a consensus of opinion or to promote any specific issue.
