Youth Leadership Forsyth Class of 2012 to start August 23rd!

Youth Leadership Forsyth (YLF) is a leadership development and community awareness program for high school juniors seeking to further develop and enhance their individual potential.  Graciously sponsored by The Benjamin F. Brady Foundation, the Youth Leadership Forsyth Class of 2012 has recently been formed with 40 well-qualified high school juniors who will be mentored by several participants from the Class of 2011. With over 60 applications received this year, it was a very difficult decision to form the class, as the selection committee reviewed every application and essay carefully to determine the students that would be best suited for the program. The class is made up of students from the Forsyth Academy, Forsyth Central HS, Lambert HS, North Forsyth HS, South Forsyth HS, West Forsyth HS, and Horizon Christian Academy. We are also very fortunate that Advanced Disposal is providing a $250 scholarship to one class member and will also provide a $300 scholarship to a graduate for college.

Youth Leadership Forsyth provides students the ability to expand leadership and community service capacity through a sequence of eight class sessions.  Orientation is scheduled for August 23, 2011 at 6 PM at the Forsyth County Board of Education, so please join us if you can. Additionally, upcoming events include the Summit on August 27, 2011 (Midway United Methodist Church from 4 PM – 10 PM) and our first class day centered on Forsyth County history on August 31, 2011 (Sawnee Mountain Preserve from 1:15 PM – 5:00 PM). Please check in regularly to the Leadership Forsyth website for agendas and more information about YLF. It is our goal to provide as much information there as possible (including agendas) to increase our visibility and communication among alumni and the current YLF and ALF classes.
